(12.6, 1.95, and .37 Meg ......... 192Kbps Sampled Hi-Quality Stereo MPEG-1 Layer 3......... 8:57, 1:23, 0:18)
Located on the Oregon Coast between Sunset Beach and the fishing town of Charleston, this Coast Guard lighthouse is just south of the breakwater entrance to Coos Bay Harbor where large freighter ships and barges are tugged several miles safely into port.
Two foghorns are easily heard in 4 to 5 different takes (on the same day) within this location. Local coastal birds are also very active and vocal. The wind is also occasionally heard as the umbrella used to block the changing wind directions was not entirely effective (DSM-WHB windscreen accessory was not yet available).
This is a delightful ambient recording as the sounds of the foghorns travels for many miles; the reverberent echo gives an uncommon spatial feeling to the recorded soundscape.
